What every plan includes
On every plan, you can call the Pick Up Korean number whenever you like, with no limit on calls a day. On the days you schedule, your partner calls you at the time you set, and for each of those days you choose how long a call can run: 10, 20 or 30 minutes, or automatic. Text chat keeps the conversation going between calls: you and your partner text back and forth. If you miss a call, we call again, and if you still can't pick up, we leave a missed-call text.
After each call, we text you a report with the phrases you learned, and the transcript, the recording and the phrases build up in your call log on the web. You can change your partner's voice and speaking speed, the name your partner calls you, and your call schedule yourself, in Settings or during a call.
You can also ask your partner, during a call or by text, to change your schedule right away.
Call time and credit
You pay by the month or the year, but your credit refills every Saturday at 12 AM. Credit you don't use doesn't carry over to the next week.
Each week's credit goes first to the days where you chose a call length, and what's left is shared evenly across the days set to automatic. If the days with a chosen length need more credit than there is, they share it equally.
When your credit runs out, your partner doesn't call you for the rest of that week and doesn't take calls you place either. We text you on the day it runs out. If it runs out in the middle of a call, we don't cut you off; the call wraps up. To talk more before your credit refills, you can buy extra credit.
When a call reaches its length, your partner doesn't hang up in the middle of a sentence. Your partner brings the conversation to a natural close, and going a little over is fine. The extra time costs nothing extra; your next call's share is that much shorter. But no call ever goes past 30 minutes.
Calls and text chats share the same credit. How much credit a minute of a call uses depends on the partner you choose and on who places the call. A premium partner sounds a little more natural on the phone, and a regular partner lets you talk longer on the same credit. You can choose your partner in Settings. A scheduled call uses 5 more seconds of credit a minute for the phone network.
| Credit per minute | Calls you place | Scheduled calls |
|---|---|---|
| Regular partner | 27 sec | 32 sec |
| Premium partner | 60 sec | 65 sec |
A call where you actually talked that ends in under 30 sec counts as 30 sec. In text chat, each reply your partner sends uses 30 sec of credit.
If you miss a call
Your partner calls at the time you set. At busy times the call can come a few minutes late. If you don't pick up, we try again every 10 minutes, up to 2 times. In Settings you can make the gap between tries as long as 60 minutes. If we still can't reach you, we send a missed-call text, and that day's call ends there.
A missed call uses no credit. On days set to automatic, your calls run longer on the credit left over. Calls you place use credit as usual.
Reports and records
Before your first call, we text you the number we'll call from and when. On days you talk, we text you a report with the phrases you learned, and the transcript, the recording and the phrases build up in your call log on the web.
To protect your privacy, we delete transcripts and recordings automatically 30 days after the call. The phrases you learned, the day's summary and the report texts stay.
When someone else is the learner
You can pay and have someone else take the calls, like a family member or an employee. The payer handles payment and the plan, and the learner can set the call schedule, the voice and the speaking speed too, or change them by saying so during a call.
The payer and the learner each decide whether to get the report text on days with a call and the missed-call text on days without. At first, both texts go to both of them. On the web, the payer can see when and how long the learner talked, and the reports. If the learner is an employee, the payer gets no reports, only when and how long they talked.
Only the learner can see the transcripts and recordings. What was said reaches the payer only as the phrases learned, in the reports.
Trial call
Before you sign up, you can make a 10-minute trial call right now. You don't need an account or a card. After the call, a report with a read on your level and a suggested next step comes by text, and once you verify your phone number, you can look back at the conversation and the report on the web.
Changing or canceling your plan
You can cancel on the web at any time. You keep the time you already paid for after you cancel, and there's no cancellation fee. Moving to a different plan isn't open on Pick Up Korean subscriptions for now: to switch, cancel, and choose the new plan once the time you paid for ends.
Payments and refunds
Payments go through Paddle, our reseller and the merchant of record, and the card you add is charged automatically on your payment date: every month on monthly billing, once a year on yearly billing. Within 14 days of a payment, you can ask for a refund. If you haven't used any credit since that payment, you get all of it back; if you have, you get it back minus what you used. Write to us at [email protected] or ask Paddle at paddle.net. We reply within 3 business days, and the refund goes back to the way you paid (your bank may take a few more days to show it). The full rules are in the Refunds section of our Terms of Service.
